MigrAZIONI di Pace

MigrAZIONI di Pace

THE PROJECT

“MigrAZIONI di Pace” is a Bologna-based initiative aimed at empowering young people with migrant backgrounds by giving them the opportunity to become peace mediators between their communities and the host society.

Funded by the “Bando Pace” of the Emilia Romagna Region, the project is rooted in the belief that peace is built at the community level through social cohesion and inclusive dialogue.

MigrAZIONI di Pace seeks to uplift marginalized identities while fostering intercultural and interfaith inclusion.

OBJECTIVES

  • Strengthen the skills of young migrants in conflict management and cultural mediation
  • Provide them with tools to promote a culture of peace, human rights, and intercultural and intergenerational dialogue
  • Foster intercultural exchanges between local communities and migrants to build positive social relationships and enhance social cohesion

PROJECT MILESTONES

1. Research and workshop
Young people with migrant backgrounds will participate in participatory research and training activities, mapping local needs related to social cohesion, cultural mediation, and conflict management.
Topics will include peacebuilding, conflict resolution, psychosocial support, intercultural dialogue, and community engagement. These activities aim to equip participants with the skills needed to act as mediators and potential “peacebuilders” within their communities. The acquired skills will be valuable both in educational and professional contexts, further empowering the participants.

2. MigrAZIONI di Pace
Participants will design and implement activities addressing the identified needs, applying their newly developed skills. The activities will be tailored to the needs and preferences of the participants, ensuring a flexible and community-centered approach.

3. Workshop on psychosocial approach
This workshop targets representatives of civil society, local authorities, educators, youth workers, and others who interact with people with migrant backgrounds. The goal is to frame the migration phenomenon within a psychosocial perspective grounded in peer-to-peer education. Participants will gain practical tools to support individuals affected by migration-related trauma and to strengthen community resilience.
