Digital Technologies for Good: Peace, Mediation, and Social Cohesion

December 4 @ 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Agency for Peacebuilding (AP) is hosting the executive roundtable “Digital Technologies for Good: Peace, Mediation, and Social Cohesion” to delve into the pivotal role that digital and information and communication technologies (ICT) play in advancing peace processes and fostering social cohesion.

As global conflicts evolve and technology becomes increasingly intertwined with societal dynamics, understanding the nexus between ICT and international peace remains a pressing intellectual and research challenge.
This roundtable offers an opportunity to explore these relationships, identify gaps, and envision pathways forward.

The digitalisation of peacebuilding has led to new actors and forms, such as “PeaceTech”, which refers to initiatives that aim to promote and regulate the use of different technologies for various objectives related to diplomacy, the prevention of violent conflicts, and peacebuilding.

With the rise of digitalisation in peacebuilding, innovative approaches and forms have emerged, such as “PeaceTech“, which refers to initiatives that aim to promote and regulate the use of different technologies for various objectives related to diplomacy, the prevention of violent conflicts, and peacebuilding.

In light of these developments, the roundtable aims to foster dialogue among international policymakers and thought leaders at the outset of a new Commission mandate.

The discussion will draw upon insights from the “Digital Technologies for Peace and Mediation” project, a collaborative effort between AP and the Peace Research Institute of Oslo (PRIO), cofinanced by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.
